St. Laurent is an exciting, premium red varietal grown widely in Austria. It produces dark skinned berries with velvety tannins. Genetically it is thought to be a 'wild cousin' of Pinot Noir, a 'gentle giant' - this is because the wine is big in colour but on the palate it's gentle with beautiful smooth, silky tannins. A bold Hawke's Bay Syrah - Floral aromas such as lilac, violet with lifted dark berry notes appear on the nose. On the palate, flavours of boysenberry and plum with well-integrated oak influence come through. With medium weight on the palate, this wine has a hint of pepper and warm spices, rounded out with a soft and velvety finish. With its delicate flavours, this wine pairs wonderfully with grilled meats and vegetables, particularly lamb and eggplant.
